Van dyke join

What if you want to deep button bigger objects, but your fabric has a nap or just isn’t wide enough? Then you make a van Dyke join. It sounds more difficult than it is. It’s a matter of calculation. I took some pictures of a curved sofa with both an inside curve and an outside curve. And a large display for female dancers. Below the photos you can watch the video how to make an invisible seam in your deep buttoning work.

In the end you don’t see the seam anymore.  The great thing is that if you have to make an inside bend or outside bend, you can stitch the diamonds smaller or larger than the rest of the diamonds that run in a straight line.
